Old Bay Seasoning

I first went to Maryland about 8 years ago on travel for my job. A friend of mine who had grown up there was going with me and so he had the good information on where to eat. We both like seafood and so we went to this great restaurant on Solomon's Island called The Lighthouse. Well, I had shrimp there done in a way I've still only had in Maryland, cooked with the shell on and doused in Old Bay seasoning. So to me, the taste of Old Bay always takes me back to Maryland. Jane got me some recently, so I've been eating it on all sorts of things and I'm surprised how versatile it is on foods other than seafood. I actually got a whiff of some at work the other day and found out that the Baltimore native who lives in the cube next to me was putting it on Thai food. I'm not sure I'd go that far, though.

We love it here on corn on the cob, and french fries. :)

I agree this is good stuff, the look and texture however is not that far afield from what was swept out from behind the bar the night before.

Old Bay makes me think of the Outer Banks. That's where I first "experienced" it on shrimp.
